Friday Fitness

In this video, we are taking a fresh start. When I started Friday Fitness posts in January, I had high hopes of what we could present and accomplish. However, as happens with chronic illness and disability, plans had to change due to my own health. I could not do what I had planned or what I wanted to do. This week, I finally was able to spend a bit more time in preparation and basically reset a bit.

As a reminder, we are simply sharing what has helped us, encouraging you wherever you are in your fitness journey. We are not medical professionals nor are we giving medical advice. Always consult your medical professionals for all your health needs and routines!

To review, we have spoken about some general concepts such as nutrition being key, adapting, staying consistent, resting, and setting goals. Today, we are looking at assessing where we are in our health/fitness. Each one of us has different health needs and goals. Fitness looks different for each of us. However, there are some general questions that will help you assess where you are and what you want to accomplish in your fitness, Lord-willing. (Keep in mind that we all go through seasons where this changes and basic necessities of life become our fitness goal.)

  1. What goals do you have for overall fitness (physical exercise, spiritual, nutritional, mental/emotional, and/or intellectual)?
  2. What is your purpose in this journey?
  3. What are your challenges?

I think that assessing where you are at is a good start. And, yes, I realize it would have been optimal to start the year this way. We can, however start at any time!

For me for my weekly goals, I have finally been strong enough to increase activity. I have the goal to maintain and possibly increase that activity this week. Nutritionally, I have been “surviving” due to illnesses. This week, I am working on a better menu plan to tighten up my nutrition a bit. Small steps, baby steps, but progressing forward!

What do you want to accomplish this week?
