I am a pastor’s kid, a preacher’s kid. When I was growing up, this was my identity around church. I was one of the (angelic, of course) pastor’s kids. My identity around the church came through this relationship.
God loves us as we saw in John 3:16 yesterday. Jesus paid the price of our sin so that we could have a relationship with God.
“12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
Have you accepted His salvation, received Him? If so, you are adopted into His family. Your identity is as a child of God.
“15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
Do you see that? As believers, we are adopted to be a child of God where we can say to the God of the universe, “Abba, Father.” Our identity is as His child.
