Throughout the pandemic, my mom and I listened to a lot of audio books. I mean… a lot of audio books. We stumbled upon a book series that I have mentioned previously. The Yada Yada Prayer Group Series (and related books), by Neta Jackson, was such a blessing as it encouraged us to turn to God in prayer through all of life. (There are related books for men by her husband Dave Jackson.) This series taught me the true meaning of “yada.” I had thought it was just a silly word previously, not realizing the great importance of the word.
Yesterday, I saw this article entitled “What Does It Mean to Yada God’s Name” which interested me greatly. I encourage you to read the article. It looks at Psalm 9:10 where the word “know” is actually the Hebrew word “yada.”
“10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.”
It is an intimate knowing of God as is outlined in the referenced article. Knowing God’s name intimately will help us trust in Him. No matter what you are facing today, God is in control.
Oh, what a difference it makes when we yada God!
