As we adjust to chronic illness or changes in our health, it helps to simplify. This may mean having more basic meals, decluttering, or adjusting activities.
I have been thinking of this a lot recently as we work to get plants in the ground. I love to garden and get my fingers in the dirt. I do not have extensive flower beds or gardens, but a few around the house that I am no longer able to maintain as I would like. While I would love to grow my own food as I used to, I now am looking more toward sustainability, toward perennial plants. Some friends graciously made me some raised beds for my deck so that I can still enjoy some gardening.
This simplification is not always what we want. However, it allows us to be as independent as possible.
Simplicity can be very peaceful!
