Wednesday Walk

Hebrews 12:1-2

“12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Something that helps me in my walk is learning of other great Christians who have walked this road of faith before us.

In the area of prayer, I think of George Mueller. God called him to open an orphanage. As he followed God in this leading, he felt that it was best for him not to ask for any money but to depend on God alone. (You can read a summary of his life here, or read or listen to his autobiography.) God did amazing things as George depended on him. He took care of thousands of orphans, sent money to the mission field and gave away a quarter million Bibles. There were times when they had no food and God provided just in time for the meal in the most unusual ways. God provided buildings and all needs for the staff and children. George spent hours on his knees praying as he trusted God.

While it is not wrong for someone to ask for help, we need to realize that ultimately it is God that is our Provider. George Mueller is an example to us in our walk with God in prayer and trust. I strongly encourage you to read his story!
