Thankful Thursday

You may notice that we are switching up some of our regular posts as we start a new year. We are holding on to Thankful Thursday as gratitude is so important.

Today, I am thankful for the contentment that God brings. It is not easy to be isolated and alone. Yet, God can help us thrive in the midst of the seclusion.

A dear friend said to me the other night that if someone gave her the choice of going back and not needing the wheelchair, she would not take the chance. God has done too much through the wheelchair. He has taught her so much and given her so many opportunities to glorify Him through it that she would not change it for anything.

As I thought about that, I realized that I would not change the last five years either as they have been God’s way of drawing me closer to Him. And so, today, I am thankful for contentment. This contentment comes from God. In my own strength,

Philippians 4:11-13

“11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

I tend more toward discontent. Yet, God is providing contentment. I am still learning what the apostle Paul learned, to be content in everything. I am thankful for contentment. What are you thankful for today?
