Moses’ parents were people of great faith, yet Moses grew up in Pharoah’s household. What would his faith be?
Hebrews 11:24-29 show us his amazing faith despite growing up in an ungodly household.
Verse 24 says, “24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;”
When Moses was of an age to say who he was, he told the truth of his heritage. Do you realize what a big step that was? He was saying that he was part of the Hebrews who were despised by the Egyptians. Moses still chose his true heritage.
“25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;” (Verse 25)
Moses chose affliction with God rather than pleasure for a season. Moses was looking at what really lasts. He chose to suffer affliction. You see God’s way may be hard, but it is lasting. God’s way is worth the suffering.
As people who suffer pain and fatigue on a daily basis, it is amazing for us to see that Moses chose the suffering. These verses challenge my heart. Will I choose Jesus through the suffering? Will I choose God’s way on this difficult journey?
What an example of faith!
