A friend at church shared a quote on Sunday that she has on a poster. It went something like, “We go slow because we go far.” (Original source unknown)
The quote stuck with me. Speed and chronic illness do not go together. Yet, slow is acceptable. Slow speed has some advantages.
- Going slowly allows us to “smell the roses.”
- Going slowly allows us to notice things others do not.
- Going slowly allows us to see those whose journey is also more laborious than the norm.
- Going slowly is still moving.
- Going slowly is what will allow us to go further.
- Going slowly is a way to prioritize what matters.
- Going slowly is a speed where we can talk to God more.
We have a long journey ahead. Take your time today and enjoy this journey.
