Tuesday Tip

The phrase “One step at a time…” has become very poignant in the past weeks.

Chronic illness typically compounds. If you have one, more will follow. It can honestly be overwhelming. Each specialist wants to see you multiple times. Sometimes treatments take multiple visits a week besides what we have to do every day just to maintain base health. When it gets overwhelming, take it one step at a time. Look at what is in front of you and do that.

Each flare or new wave of illness takes time. It doesn’t come all at once. It takes a lot of work, one step at a time. Sometimes those steps are baby steps, small baby steps. Rejoice in the little wins that really aren’t so little. Be thankful for each little step.

And, most importantly, turn to our precious Savior for assistance, Psalm 61:2, “1 Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Ps 61:1–2.

He gives us strength. He is our Rock. One step at a time…
