Sometimes joy and sadness comes together.
Today is the annual Mitchell’s Run Through Rockford (https://mitchellsrun.org/). It supports research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This disease is devastating.
Each year, my family, as many as can, head to Rockford to participate in the 5K. Some of us run; some walk; some roll along in mobility scooters. Why? It is one way we can support our family members impacted by the disease.
The atmosphere is electric as all families there support family members, friends, and loved ones affected by this tragic disease. There is sadness as we know what the disease means and it’s devastating effects on daily life. There is joy as we work together to fight the disease. Traditions abound as the whole town comes together.
Thinking about the race, it reminded me that in Christ, there is joy in pain as we come to Jesus with our troubles, as He supports us.
How have you seen joy in the midst of pain this week?
