We take so much for granted. OK. I take so much for granted.
This year, I have been learning this lesson in new ways as I have had to go without things that used to just be part of daily life. This past week was no exception.
Due to health issues, a recliner is my bed and has been for many, many years. They wear out quickly due to not being built to be used as a bed. My allergic reactions mean that shopping for a new recliner is a challenge. My recliners had worn completely and were causing intense pain and mobility difficulty.
Saturday morning my niece and I set out for the store. The budget was tight. I mean tight. Yet, we were trusting God to work. He directed us to a recliner in our budget. We praised Him! We praised Him even more as we realized that I was allergic to something in the store, but He helped us get checked out quickly and out of the store before the allergic reaction went to dangerous levels.
For several days, I didn’t have a good place to sleep as we awaited the new recliner. It truly struck me how blessed we are to have a place to sleep each night and how many others go through this every night, not just a few nights. We are blessed.
God is helping me learn more and
more about Him and how to trust Him for the little things, the things that we take for granted. Oh, how my heart rejoiced yesterday when the new recliner was delivered, when the delivery people were amazing in respecting my weird allergies to chemicals in cardboard and paper, and when I was able to mitigate the possible allergy issues to a new recliner. This morning, I awoke refreshed. Praise our God.
Today, I am thankful for my recliner, but more than that, I am thankful for God teaching me to be thankful for all those things that we take for granted. Oh, what a God!
What are you thankful for today?
