Today, we are going to talk about prepping meals for weak times. With my recent surgeries, there would be about a month of not being able to make meals. My food allergies mean that I must prepare all food (95%+) from scratch. This is a lot of work each week. I didn’t want to put that pressure on those helping me through recovery.

It took a lot of thinking and planning to get things done. I am thankful that some friends came along to help. Here is what we did:

  1. We cooked up a lot of meat before hand, prepared in various ways, and pre-portioned it. This meat can then be used for various meals when needed.
  2. We bought veggies to add to the meals.
  3. We froze fruits and veggies for this time.
  4. We prepared various breakfast foods and snacks ahead.
  5. We looked for any pre-made foods that were safe that we could eat.

For the hospital stay, I asked ahead and then packed food to take as they cannot accommodate my allergy needs.

We are hoping that we have things prepared well ahead of time. Time will tell.

How do you prepare for weaker times, making sure you get the best nutrition possible?
