Tuesday Tip: Eyes on Me

How many times did we hear “Eyes on me” in a classroom growing up and maybe even from our parents?

This morning, I am headed back to the specialist for an emergency appointment as a chronic issue has reared its ugly head. It is a fairly new issue for which I am uncertain of the treatment, how my persnickety body will respond, etc., etc. Any treatment is challenging given my allergic reactions to common chemicals and my immune system and… and… and…. It’s complicated. I know many of you understand.

Complete honesty… I awoke with dread in my heart. Very quickly, the Scriptures that I have been studying and my pastor’s message Sunday came back to mind.

  • God is in control. He is in control. (Yes, I meant to type that twice – I needed it.) He has a plan even when we may not like it. He has a plan even when it may not mesh with our plan. Oh, did I mention, He is in control.
  • What you think will change your brain and focus. Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Praise. It will change you, quite literally. Studies now show that it will rewire your brain.
  • Be not afraid. This phrase is repeated over and over and over in the Bible.

I am thankful for these reminders from the Holy Spirit. I was reminding myself to trust as I opened my Bible.

What verse did I see?

Deuteronomy 31:6, “6 Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”” The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Dt 31:5–6.

It was as if my God was saying to me… 1-2-3, Eyes on me! What are you facing today that seems out of control and scary?

Tip for the day: Eyes on God!
