Monday Meditation

Not to brag, but I am already behind on my Bible reading this year to read through the Bible in a year. This is a record. I made it to January 4th. Now, grant it, due to an infection around my eye, I haven’t been able to read and just have been able to start again. But… it made me chuckle that I made if four days.

Why am I sharing this? Our quiet time with God and time in His Word is so important, but not to check off a chart that we read. (Slowly, I hope to get “caught up,” but the time with God is more important. There isn’t a time frame on the relationship with Him and learning.) Someone asked me recently basically about what a quiet time with God entails. This is a very important question in our walk with God.

To help us with this, we are going to talk about what it means to spend time in God’s Word and with Him in the coming weeks, loosely going through the devotional from Not Consumed entitled “Developing a Quiet Time Bible Study.” Note: This book is actually written for parents to use in conjunction with their kids of all ages to help them learn, but several people I know have found that it is so helpful for us as adults as well.

What we plan to do:

  1. If you would like to obtain a copy of the book, use the link above. We have one extra copy that we can provide to you free of charge on a first come, first serve basis and are happy to do so.
  2. Beginning next Monday, start going through the first seven days of the book and note what stands out to you. In two weeks, we will review the first seven days and talk about what was taught in our Monday Meditation.
  3. We would be happy to have you share what you are learning as you go through the study. We can do this in the comments or in our Facebook group.
  4. We realize that life challenges and health can greatly limit your resources of time and strength to spend in doing this. Please know, this is more about learning at your own pace and as God leads than having to set aside a certain amount of time each day. I understand! (My plan was to start this at the beginning of 2026, but God had other plans. I really understand!) We simply want to help you increase your relationship with God!

We want to use this timeline in order to give you time to obtain the book. We will use the study as a framework to learn more about having a quiet time with God and learning from His Word. Psalm 19:7-11 tells of the importance of God’s Word and all it does to help us. His Word helps us learn who God is and grow in our relationship with Him.

“7  The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8  the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9  the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10  More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11  Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.”

We would love to have you join us in this study. Please reach out with your thoughts and how we can help you on this journey!

We will be doing it in such a way that you will not need to purchase it, but we encourage you to do so. Our time with God is so important.
