Faithful Friday

Isn’t it amazing when we have tangible glimpses of God’s faithfulness through the years?

Recently, God has reminded me of how He prepares us even when we don’t realize what He is doing. In the past few years, my allergic reactions to very common things has made navigating life a challenge. It has meant using handkerchiefs instead of facial tissue, reusable paper towels and napkins, and doing loads and loads of laundry each week. (A couple weeks ago, I shared how I have begun to react to both dish soaps and dish gloves to protect my hands and how God provided a dishwasher just in the right time.) This year, we have found another challenge as I am reacting to various fabrics.

Due to my other conditions, staying warm is essential, but not too warm as my lungs do not appreciate that. It means layering up even at home. Yet, the new allergic reactions mean that I am allergic to the fabric out of which many of the layers are comprised. Sadly, companies do not list all the clothing “ingredients” or the chemicals used in the manufacturing process. This has meant that the same type of fabric is sometimes safe and sometimes not. Research, research, research has become the name of the game. Then, trial and error are the next step in the process. It makes life an adventure.

God has been so faithful. My mom taught us girls how to sew from a young age. We made our own clothes and more. Now, this skill is an absolute necessity. God has provided what I needed. Now, time can be an issue due to all that has to be done for “survival” tasks with so many allergies. (Food also has to be made from scratch; the house must be deep-cleaned regularly due to other allergic reactions.) Never fear. God has stepped in again. A dear friend of many years (that sounds better than old friend) and a new friend have both offered to help me get caught up as I scramble to sew to meet new needs.

Our God is a faithful God. Our God provides even before we know of a need. What a wonderful God!

How have you seen God’s faithfulness this week?
