“The condition for a miracle is difficulty, however the condition for a great miracle is not difficulty, but impossibility.”
Today, we look at our mighty God. Sometimes, in the day to day, we forget what a mighty God we have. Our Jesus, our Savior, our God is the Creator of our world and sovereign over all. Our God is mighty. When we are in the midst of our worst impossibility, He is mighty.
“6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
And the government shall be upon his shoulder:
And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God,
The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,
Upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom,
To order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice
From henceforth even for ever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”
We have a mighty God. He is all-powerful! Awhile back, someone shared the song “Middle of a Miracle” with me. Think about it at the worst times, our mighty God is working the most. Here are just a few examples from Scripture.
- When the children of Israel were facing the Red Sea before them and the armies of Egypt behind them, they were in the middle of a miracle. They may not have seen it, but they were. Exodus 14
- When David faced Goliath, he was in the middle of a miracle. 1 Samuel 17
- When Daniel was tossed into a den of hungry lions, he was in the middle of a miracle. Daniel 6
- When the widow used the last of her oil and flour to make food for Elijah, she was in the middle of a miracle. 1 Kings 17:12-16
- When the 12 disciples were in the middle of a storm on the sea, they were in the middle of a miracle. Matthew 8:23-27
- When Paul and Silas were shackled in prison, they were in the middle of a miracle. Acts 16:16-40
When we picture a miracle, we typically think of the amazing end, the great part, the shout it from the roof-tops part. Yet, the dark part before the bright part is also in the miracle. As the quote from Angus Buchan states, “The condition for a miracle is difficulty, however the condition for a great miracle is not difficulty, but impossibility.” You may be in the “difficult” or “impossible” stage of your miracle. Do not fear. Our mighty God is working even if you don’t see it. The problem is not bigger than He is. You may be walking in the middle of a miracle.
