Daily Dose of Encouragement: Be Strong and Courageous

Fridays we think of the faithfulness. In Joshua 1, Moses has just passed away. Moses, the one who had been leading the children of Israel out of Egypt, through the dessert, and to the promised land. He had passed away. What would the people do?

Moses had passed away, but God had not forgotten His people. He spoke to Joshua and called him to lead the people. Can you imagine how Joshua must have felt? I would imagine there would be fear there. Yet, God told him not to fear. Joshua was to remember the law of God, to remember what God had said and to meditate on it day and night so that He could follow all that God said. Doing this would bring Joshua success. God told Joshua to be strong and courageous.

Joshua 1:8-9

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

What about us? What are we facing that leaves us stunned and a bit frightened? Draw close to God. He will help you. He will direct you. Meditating on His Word day and night will help bring you success. I don’t mean that it will give you success as the world sees success, but as God does.

Draw near to our God! He has not forgotten you! We, too, need to be strong and courageous in God!
