Daily Dose of Encouragement: Old Age

Their walk into the Sunday School class was slow. Yet, when you looked at their faces, they simply shown with the joy of the Lord.

A few days later, they called out cheerily to me, the newcomer, as they entered the restaurant. As we chatted, they freely and kindly shared their wisdom and the faithfulness of God. It soon became evident that these dear saints were still very much serving our Father in whatever way they could. Sure, their service looks different than it used to, but these octogenarians were still faithfully serving.

“Senior Saints” as they are sometimes called are precious. They have seen much, endured much, and have seen what God can do. What examples they are to us. My heart desires to be like them. I pray that I can bring forth fruit and glorify God into old age!

How can we be like them whether our old age is fifty or eighty? Get in the Word and sit at Jesus’ feet. I love this passage in Psalm 92:13-15.

“13  Those that be planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14  They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; They shall be fat and flourishing;

15  To shew that the Lord is upright: He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.”
