Someone is watching you. Yes, you, who doesn’t get out of the house. Someone is watching you. How are you walking? How are you handling the day to day?
This week, I learned that someone was observing my struggle from afar. I had no idea that they noted the struggle. It stopped me in my tracks. How am I walking? Will my walk draw them to Jesus?
Now, I don’t mean that we have to be perfect and always “up.” No, the hurt and pain are real. It is fine for them to see the struggles. Let them also see Christ in your struggles. Walk worthy of your calling in Jesus.
“4 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,”
To do this, we need to cry out to God and draw near to Him. My experience is that if I try to do the spiritual walk in my own power, it fails miserably. Look at the verses before and after Ephesians 4:1, the ones that tell us why it is there and give context. In these verses, it becomes clear where the strength comes from.
“14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
4 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
