This passage is one that I come back to often. We have talked about it each year in Home Connections.
Winter is hard with isolation, sicknesses, and many gray skies. Many of you are going through difficult things right now. How will we respond?
“17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
18 Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.”
What a great reminder that when everything is going wrong, we can determine to rejoice and find joy. How?
Well, it is impossible in our own strength, but possible in His strength! As Habakkuk states,”The Lord God is my strength.” We cannot do this on our own. We must depend on God. It is God who makes our feet like hinds’ feet. It is He who will make us walk on high places.
Ask God for His strength today to rejoice and joy in Him!
