Daily Dose of Encouragement: Prayer, Part 24

Matthew 6:9-13

“9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

As we look at this example prayer, the first two words stop me. “Our Father.”

God is our Father.

Yesterday, as I was standing in line at a government office and meditating on the Lord’s prayer, it hit me anew. God loves as a Father does. He is not standing over us waiting to judge. He loves us as a Father. Yes, He is a righteous and holy God. He is also a God of love and went to great lengths to provide a way for that relationship with Him. He loves us.

He cares about the mundane and hard in our lives. He loves us. He rejoices over us.

What a powerful way to start our prayers. Two simple words with such profound impact. “Our Father.” Cry out to Him today. If you do not know Him personally as your Father, please reach out to us either here or in our Facebook group.
