Tuesday Tip: You are a leader.

From a health challenge that I am in, our group leader said, “You are a leader; someone is following you.” ~Randy Barton

That stopped me in my tracks, not just in the aspect of the weight-loss challenge, but in the journey as an isolated individual. Yes, even isolated people have people watching. Our medical providers, insurance customer service agents, delivery people, and friends or family all see how we respond to our journey. When people look at how I walk the journey of isolation, what do they see?

  • Do I pretend to be strong when I’m not or am I honest with the hard?
  • Do I whine and complain or praise while acknowledging the hard?
  • Do I focus on myself or on others?
  • Do I draw people closer to God or push them away?
  • Do I do my best to be a good steward of my health or do I take what health I have left for granted?

It made me stop and think for I have a very long way to go in so many areas. I need to lean on God for help in doing this as I cannot do it alone.

It made me think of this verse when Paul is telling a very young Timothy to be an example to others despite his youth. OK… I know many of us are not young, but I think we can also apply the principle to our lives.

1 Timothy 4:12, “12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

Jesus also told us to be a light to others! Matthew 5:16, “16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

May we live to glorify God! May we live for Jesus!
