Daily Dose of Encouragement: Prayer, Part 6

We have given a simple explanation for prayer, talking to God. This is absolutely true and prayer at it’s simplest form.

However, we would be remiss if we didn’t look more deeply into prayer. There are requirements to come to God in prayer. We must come with a humble heart, confessing sin first and being forgiven through Jesus Christ.

First, we come to Him for salvation. After salvation, we confess our sins and ask for His forgiveness to keep a right relationship with Him. He then says that He will forgive our sins. (1 John 1:9)

The Psalmist David asks God to show Him his sin and lead him in the God’s way.

Psalm 139:23-24

“23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Isn’t that awesome? God will search our heart and show us the things that need to be confessed and changed. Then, we can have that right relationship with God to allow prayer to blossom.

I love that we do not have to be perfect to come to God. We don’t have to be strong or able-bodied. We come humbly. He hears us and answers. Wow.
