1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Pray without ceasing.”
This verse is one of the shortest in the Bible. Yet, it is powerful.
Amidst the daily struggles of living with a disability and chronic illness, time set aside for prayer can be hard to find. Honestly, “survival tasks” with my conditions take a good deal of my strength and time. God has been convicting my heart about praying more. As I start this year, I am studying prayer in the Bible and wanted to bring you all along on the journey.
My Grandma was a prayer warrior. She would rise early, early morning to spend a quiet hour with Jesus even as her health declined in later years. We knew not to interrupt this precious time she had each day. My mom continued this praying example with us as she would take us by the couch to pray anytime a crisis came. Then, we would watch God work.
What if God is calling us to be prayer warrior through our isolation? What if He needs us to be “soldiers” for Him through prayer? What if that time with Jesus would become more precious than our isolation is challenging?
Two songs touch my heart, the first was my Grandma’s favorite and has become a favorite of mine as well.
This song has been a blessing to me throughout the years.
We will be looking at great prayer warriors and what Scripture says about prayer in the coming weeks. I fully believe that God needs prayer warriors. Has He called you to be a prayer warrior? I look forward to this journey as we take it together!
