We are going to continue our tip for today and talk about abiding with Christ, abiding in God.
I strongly encourage you to read all of John 15. We already talked about John 15:4 in the Tuesday Tip.
“4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”
Let’s look at a couple other verses in the chapter:
“7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
“10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.”
Let’s pause a moment. The God of the universe, the Savior of the world, wants us to abide with Him, to have consistent fellowship with Him, to spend time with Him, and to love Him.
- Abiding in Christ allows us to bear fruit for God, fruit in our lives. We cannot do this on our own.
- Abiding in Christ and allowing His Words to abide in us means that God will answer our prayers. I think that as we abide in Him, our desires begin to match up with His desires.
- Keeping His commandments allows us to abide in His love.
Oh, draw closer to Him today and abide with Him. Make choices that will draw you closer to Him, that help you abide in Him. Take time throughout the day to spend time with Him.
I encourage you to read all of John 15. It is a wonderful chapter!
There are many other passages regarding abiding in Him. We will be looking at these in the next few days.
