We spent the last week looking at the “Love One Another” passages. We are now going to look through the other “One Another” passages in the Word.
Let’s start in Romans 12.
“10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.”
Digging in, we see the following:
- kindly affectioned – loving each other as a family
- brotherly love – loving each other with a … brotherly love
Look at that – we are part of the family of God if we have trusted Christ as our Savior.
- in honour preferring one another – with honor putting each other first.
- be of the same mind one toward another – have understanding and unity, modestly interacting with each other
- mind not high things – don’t set your mind on riches and honour
- condescend to men of low estate – to yield to the people who you may perceive as lower than you
- be not wise in your own conceits – don’t be a know it all
What do we see in this? To put others first and not to think too much of yourself. As my dad would say, that sits down hard and takes up a lot of pew.
May we see others first and demonstrate humility.
