“17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.”
Faith. Abraham had faith.
God tested him to see if he would give up his only son, his promised son, the one who would give Abraham his seed. Genesis 22 God was asking him to give up what he had been given.
Yet, Abraham had faith in God. He simply trusted Him. God rewarded Abraham’s faith. Issac was spared.
Wow. This hits me. Abraham was willing to give up all at God’s request. He simply trusted that God knew best and that God’s way is perfect.
What about us? Are we willing to give up all for God? As disabled, chronically ill and isolated, are we willing to give up health, independence, and all that we hold dear for God? Do we trust Him to do what is best, to know what is best?
Faith. God, give us faith. Help us in our unbelief.
