Daily Dose of Encouragement: 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

“17 Pray without ceasing.

18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Recently, a dear friend went through a lot. She was hospitalized again and had to go back to rehab. The road was long and difficult. Something she said to me struck me. She mentioned that the sickness had taught her to pray more, drawn her to pray. For you see, she could do nothing except pray. And so, pray she did.

Sometimes, we think that prayer has to be a long prayer on our knees with flowery words. However, as this dear friend learned, prayer is talking to God all the time. We can talk to Him all the time about anything, even “little things.” He cares and will help us.

We can take big things to Him. He answers prayer. A few months ago, a friend who had been praying for a handicapped accessible home for years watched God provide. It was something that they could not do.

Or, what about the days we are praying about just getting through each task. Pray about it.

Give thanks as you do, knowing that God will take care of it. Whatever it is, as my dear friend learned, prayer is important. When we can do nothing else, prayer is powerful.

Pray!
