Daily Dose of Encouragement: Ephesians 4:31-32

Although we are still looking at the subject of “love” this month, today’s verses do not have the word “love” in them. However, the very essence of loving one another is all the way through the passage.

Ephesians 4:31-32, “31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

How do we love one another?

Put away bitterness (bitter hatred or a bitter root), wrath (a passionate anger), anger, clamour (outcry), evil speaking, and malice (wickedness, depravity).

Instead, be kind, tenderhearted, forgiving, even as Christ hath forgiven you. What I am amazed with as I read the Scriptures is how much we can do as disabled and chronically ill. We can love by following these verses. Given the pain, weakness, and struggles that we have each day, perhaps it even reflects Christ’s love more. We can show Christ to those around us despite our wekness.

That is loving one another! (1 Corinthians 13) Let’s practice this love as we go through the day.
