John 15:12-13, “¹² This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. ¹³ Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

How can we love those around us? Love as Christ loved. The verse above says that the greatest love is to lay down your life for your friends. Jesus did that for us.

While this verse is definitely talking about giving one’s life in death for another as Jesus did, I also see that sometimes laying down our lives is laying down our own desires and needs. That is tough, especially in pain, weakness, and fatigue. To show love as Christ does, we must put others’ first.

Jesus is our ultimate example of love. Let’s follow His example and look for ways to set aside our wants and desires to love others today.
