Tuesday Tip: Holidays

The holidays are upon us! As wonderful as they can be, they can be challenging to navigate.

I was talking to someone the other day who will be alone on Christmas. She inspired me. Instead of dwelling on what she doesn’t have, she has chosen to enjoy every moment of what she does have. She is participating as much as her health will allow in church activities, reaching out to serve where she can, making a special meal for Christmas day and planning things she enjoys that day. Her plans made me smile.

If you are alone this Christmas, please know we are praying for you. If you are in (or want to join) the Facebook group, please feel free to reach out that day. We would be happy to chat.

Maybe you have family and celebrations planned. You know now that you will be exhausted from the activities. It is hard. Adjust expectations of what you can do; pace yourself. Plan recovery time. Ask for help when needed. Take advantage of live stream opportunities to participate with less fatigue. While others may not understand your priorities, you may need to choose one or two activities to focus on.

What tips do you have? What have you found that helps you?
