Gratefulness: What are you thankful for today?
Today, I am thankful for life. Every day we wake up, we know that God has a purpose for the day.
I think that for those of us with disability and chronic illness, life becomes more precious. There is a peace knowing that God is in control of our days. Yet, we are more aware that we need to live each day for Him as tomorrow is not promised.
Life also means that we still have the opportunity to serve Him here. He still has a job for us to do here.
Daring Devotion Thoughts from Day 30: When I was around 10, my grandma gave me the book Doctor in Rags. It was my first introduction to the Hutterites. The book became a favorite that I later shared with my nieces and nephews.
Count Zinzendorf is our faithful saint for today. He grew up surrounded by great Christians and had a heart for God. When he was 17, he saw a painting of Christ entitled “Behold the Man.” It said under it, “All this I did for thee. What hast thou done for me?” This changed his life as he now wanted to use his wealth for Christ; he wanted to reach people for Jesus.
He learned of a group of persecuted Christians and invited them to come live on his estate. The group grew. He became their leader, leaving his government position and working with them full time. They sent missionaries out and won many to Jesus. They humbled themselves, content to be unknown and make Jesus known.
While this group is not as well known today, they had a tremendous impact on many people as they told them of the Savior. We may never be widely known, but God can still use us to make a difference and bring people to Him. May we follow zinzendorf’s example.
