Tuesday Tip: Don’t Compare

Today’s tip comes to you from experience.

Don’t compare.

Now, I don’t mean compare in the sense of finding community with others going through the same things. I mean comparing in the sense of looking at other disabled or chronically ill and wondering why you can’t do what they do.

I mentioned this comes by experience. It is so easy to wonder why others with chronic illness/disability are able to push through or do more than I can. That is simply not productive.

Remember that even the same chronic illness hits everyone differently. There are also other circumstances. Living conditions, responsibilities, etc., etc., etc. all play into what you can and can’t do. Also, remember that you don’t see the other person’s “after.” They may look as if they are doing well, but things may be falling apart after.

What is more productive is to steward your chronic illness or disability. Do what God would have you do each day. He has a plan for you that is different from His plan for them.
