Where to Turn When Weary

Weary. Do you feel it? For those of us in my area, school starts this week. Yet, we are weary after an unexpected severe storm over the weekend. Many are still doing cleanup. Many are still without power. It can seem overwhelming. Everyday tasks are even harder than usual. Weary.

Storms of life come. Often they come at the most inopportune time. They leave us weary and struggling to go on.

How do we keep going when we are so weary?

Matthew 11:28-30, “28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

God gives rest. Now, that doesn’t mean you can just lay down and take a nap in the middle of everything. What it does mean is that God will give you rest in the midst of it. Your soul will be at rest knowing that He is taking care of all.

Yesterday, I was driving back as my house now has power. I was exhausted from many weeks of busy before having to leave from the storm. My strength limits had been tested. Weariness was creeping in. I know I am not alone in this sentiment.

God reminded me that He is in control and knows what had to be done and the strength that I need. I decided to trust and take the next step. Peace crept in. I pictured God simply carrying me through since my own strength was small.God did not disappoint.

Upon arriving home, I was astounded at His provision. My dear nieces had come over to use some things at the house that were still out at their house due to the storm. They looked around, saw what needed to be done and did it. Yes, I was still weary, but God took care of needs.

Weary? Heavy-laden? Go to Him! He will not disappoint. He will give you rest in your soul to walk through.

And, please know that …
