Disability Ministry

Yesterday, I received an email from Joni and Friends that struck home as it went along with our blog post yesterday. Here is part of a paragragh from the email:

“’Disability Ministry’ is often something done in service of people with disabilities. But if people with disabilities are also called to serve, how do we make those opportunities happen? What would that look like in your church?’

Note to churches: The email was written to inspire churches to find places for people to serve. It went on to say, “Creating avenues of service for people living with disability is vital to the health of the whole church!” If you are a church who want to help the disabled serve, Joni and Friends has great resources. Please contact them.

For those of us who are disabled, ask God to help you find a opportunities for service. If you are connected with a church, ask them for opportunities to serve. Remember that God can take what is small (the little boy’s lunch or the widow’s mite) to do great things. He has a purpose for you no matter how “small” you think your offering is.

Mark 12:41-44, KJV: “41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. 42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. 43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: 44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.”

Isn’t that passage exciting? Our “little bit” from a human perspective is great in God’s eyes. He uses it.

Doesn’t that bring purpose to our days? Ask God how you can serve Him today!
