Ephesians 6:13-20, Part 2

Ephesians 6:13-20, KJV: “13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”

What a blessing it was to see that this armor of God helps us to stand in whatever circumstances. Now, let’s learn about this armor:

  • Stand, therefore: This is a command. We are to stand, be firm, be established, because of all of what we have learned.
  • loins, girt about with truth: We must equip ourselves with truth. There is so much “noise” and distraction today. There are so many voices coming at us. Many of them give conflicting messages. The only message that matters is God’s truth which is truth. We must be equipped with truth. (John 14:6) We must take time in His Word and in prayer.
  • having on the breastplate of righteousness: The breastplate covers our core and major organs. We must protect the core of our being with righteousness.
  • feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: Having correct footware for wherever you are walking is important. Did you notice that preparation is needed to take the gospel (good news of Jesus’ salvation) with peace? It is so easy to allow passion to bring out anger. We must prepare properly to bring the gospel with peace.

So far, we are seeing that we must stand for God by being covered with truth, righteousness, and peace. These three parts of the armor are part of our victory in each challenge. Tomorrow, we will learn about more of the armor of God. See you then!
