Living with chronic illness, disability, care-giving, etc. can cause us to live in fear. Many times, I have gone in for a “routine” appointment either for myself or when care-giving only to come away with a laundry list of new ailments or schedule of more specialist appointments. The future can seem uncertain. Sometimes, we can dread just the thought of more appointments as they are overwhelming.
Last week, I had an appointment like that. Oh, nothing truly “bad,” but overwhelming. Today, I was reading Psalm 112. Verse 7 jumped off the page. There is no fear of bad news. Our heart can be confident, trusting in the Lord.
We need to go back to the top of the chapter to see the context. This confidence and the other promises in the chapter are for those who fear the Lord. (Side note: Isn’t the English language great? Those who fear the Lord have no fear. 🙂 That is a study for another day.) Now, it doesn’t mean we will never have bad news, but that we have no fear in that bad news. We can be confident in the Lord. God takes care of His own. He is in control and will take care of us. He is worthy of our trust.
What a blessing! Oh, how believing this allows us to move forward each day. It changes our perspective. This will make such a difference as we face each day, even the little ones. There is no need to fear.
I encourage you to read the rest of the chapter, to soak in it. What a blessing!
