Joy… sometimes on this journey it can seem elusive.
Recently, I have been listening to podcasts by Dr. Lee Warren, author ofThe Life-Changing Art of Self-Brain Surgery by W. Lee Warren, regarding how we can rewire the brain. He is a Christian neuro surgeon who has gone through trauma himself.
Research is showing that you can literally rewire your brain from negativity or even anxiety to focus on God. It reminds me of when you walk over and over on a path in your yard. The grass becomes bare. Yet, if you stop doing that, the grass will grow back, the path will fill back in. That is definitely an over-simplification, but it helped me understand it.
I don’t know about you, but this brings joy and hope. Several people have mentioned to me that they are upset with God. I can understand and have been myself. In this video, Dr. Warren addresses anger with God.
Joy and hope can be life-changing in our journey. A friend had originally shared Dr. Warren’s work with me. It has helped me tremendously with the discouragement and disappointment that inevitably comes with chronic illness and disability. Our God is trustworthy. He is an amazing God!
