This past weekend, I was reading Daniel. Oh, how his faith and Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s faith encouraged my heart.

At every turn, Daniel and his friends faced hardship: captives in a foreign land, standing for God in their daily food, standing up to the king and not worshipping his image, interpreting dreams, praying despite an edict not to which meant he would face the lions’ den, and so many more challenges. These godly men simply trusted God and praised God.

One verse stood out to me, Daniel 6:10, “10 When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.”

When the edict came not to pray to anyone but the king, He went back home, opened his window toward Jerusalem, prayed and gave thanks. He prayed openly and gave thanks to God knowing his very life was on the line.

Today, we face many challenges. May we pray and praise through them like Daniel!
