Joy. Contentment.
I have been thinking of these things lately. How do we have joy and contentment in loneliness?
Our life can be lonely. Even people who are intentional in friendship in every possible way are not always available. Loneliness can creep in. We may long to share thoughts or struggles, but the path is ours to walk seemingly alone, even with the best support systems.
Yet, that is not the end of the story! God, in three persons, is the only One who is always there. He is with us and cares. He will listen. We can talk with Him and share with Him. We can hear from Him in His Word. What joy, peace, and comfort this brings!
My observation has shown me that the loneliness will potentially increase as we age. Oh, how important it is that we develop our relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. He is our Rock and Shelter. He is our Friend. Oh, the joy He brings!
Psalm 91:1-2, “1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” ” The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Ps 91:1–2.
