Do not fear.
It is easy to be afraid when we are going through trials. Yet, throughout the Bible, we are told not to fear.
This past few weeks, fear reared its ugly head several times. I had to purposefully take a step back, cry out to God for help, and trust God. I was thinking about how not being afraid makes such a difference.
I know in the past as new symptoms come up, I would experience fear until we knew what it was or knew it wasn’t something serious. It hit me this past week as very new symptoms cropped up and worsened despite treatment that I could live in the post-fear stage even though we did not yet have answers. Why? Because God had it all under control. Whether or not the results were good or bad, God had it all under control.
What a difference this mindset shift made. I was turning my eyes to God instead of to what could happen. It doesn’t mean that I will like what is happening or that all will turn out well. It means that God is still in control and knows what is happening.
Isaiah 26:3-4, “3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.” The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Is 26:3–4.
What are you fearing today? Our God is still God in the valley as well as God on the mountain.
