We are looking at Not Consumed Developing a Quiet Time. This devotional shared a very simple and helpful outline (the G-R-O-W-S method) of what your time with God could look like. It is a starting place to assist us in getting started. As we grow in our relationship with God, our time with God may look a bit different.
Why do we spend time with God? The last couple weeks, we have spoken of how we spend time in our quiet time for fellowship with God, for righteousness, and for direction.
In small group last night, we took time to pray thanksgiving and praise to God. We weren’t asking for anything, just thanking and praising Him. Oh, what a blessing it was. Our minds were focused on Him. We simply worshipped Him. This is another very important reason that we need to spend time with God, to worship Him. (Day 11 in the book.)
When we spend time with Him not to get something from Him or to have a better day, but to worship Him. Our time with God needs to be focused on Him. We would be basking in His presence and who He is.
Shifting our quiet time to worship will help us to know Him more. I believe it will transform our days. As life happens, praise and worship of our God will be at the forefront. We will be more focused on Him than us.
God created us for His pleasure. He is worthy of our praise and worship!
