Tuesday Tip

Perspective! Living in light of God’s promises changes our perspective. Yesterday, this song was going through my mind.

“It’s a Happy Day” by Marantha Kids

“It’s a happy day, and I thank God for the weather.
It’s a happy day, and I’m living it for my Lord.
It’s a happy day, and things are going to get better.
Living each day by the promises in God’s Word.”

And, the second verse that my teachers sang as a child,

“It’s a sad day, and I can’t stand the weather.
It’s a sad day, and I’m living it for myself.
It’s a sad day, and things aren’t going to get better.
Living each day with my Bible on the shelf.”

Why did this song go through my mind you ask?

It was a day off work which quickly filled up. My plans were to keep making a dent in all that I am behind in due to weeks of health struggles. I did have a medical appointment and errand to run as well as a few responsibilities. However, I hoped to have more time and strength to get things done around the house.

My plans are not God’s plans. I awoke to another health issue having flared more overnight which required a doctor visit. What followed was a whirlwind of medical appointments, cancelations, and errands. I did have to rest in between. Whew.

I was struggling a bit with disappointment and frustration in the midst of it all. Once again, I was not going to be able to get needed tasks at home caught up. This was not how I had wanted the day to go. This was not in my plans. God quickly reminded me to praise Him anyway as He reminded me of the song I mentioned above.

My perspective began to shift. God had orchestrated timing in medical appointments that I could not have done even if I had tried. God brought dear sweet people across my path that made my day brighter. God provided the needed medication quickly. God gave me an amazing doctor. God allowed this to come on a day that I was off work and could run everywhere for the medical appointments. Yes, God is good even in the midst of disappointments. He is still God, still in control.

No, I don’t know how I am going to get things caught up at home, needed things. Yet, I do know that God is still in control and that He has a plan!

We have been studying daily quiet time in our Monday Meditation. As you can see in the song above, time in God’s Word helps shift our perspective. It reminds us of who He is. God is still good. God has it all under control and was taking care of me even before I knew of the need. Yes, that is our God!
