Monday Meditation

Our devotion time, meditation, quiet time, or whatever you call it, is a very important time in our lives. This song, my Grandma’s favorite, shows how important our time with God is.

You see, the time with God and His Word is about a relationship with the God who loves us, the God who is King of kings and Lord of lords, and the God who is Creator of the universe. He is all this and still wants to spend time with us each day.

Whether you just came to know Jesus Christ as your Savior and are wondering “what next?” or you are a seasoned Christian who is wanting to go deeper in your relationship with God, we hope these Monday meditations will be a help to you. We are working through the book, “Developing a Quiet Time” by Not Consumed, loosely basing the studies on this book.

When we come to know Christ, our life changes. Ephesians 4:17-24 tells us how our life should change as we grow in God, “17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

But, how do we do this? It reminds me of the children’s song, “Read Your Bible, Pray Every Day.” We need to build habits to be in His Word. I know that some people do it in the morning, some in the evening. There is no right or wrong time, the important thing is to spend time with God. Make time for Him each day. Make it a priority.

What then? In the coming weeks, we will be looking at ways to get to know God more. There are many, many different acronyms or books that will help you with this. The study gives us a starting point to help us using the word “GROWS.”

G – Good morning, God!
R – Read and respond
O – Open heart prayer
W – Worship
S – Scripture Memory (Don’t worry… we will help you with this, as well.)

This method is a framework on which you can build your own quiet time. As relationships are dynamic, your time with God will likely expand and grow from this. This is just a way to get started.

We look forward to hearing how your life changes through your time with God!
