The post today is basically a reminder to me, something I have to remind myself often. I hope it helps you as well.
As the holidays are approaching, managing chronic illnesses and medical needs becomes a bit more tricky.
Simplify.
From gifts to food preparation to activities to decorating, simplify.
Simplify expectations. This can be the hardest thing. We remember what life was, what we could do, and all that was before. It is easy to get caught up in the expectation that it will be like that again. Instead, simplify what you expect. Enjoy the simple pleasures of the season.
To be honest, this is hard for me. I want to participate in all of the activities, to have oh so many decorations, to give too many gifts, to do it all. My health says no. My body won’t do it. It is hard to simplify everything, but it is necessary. I have to ask God to help me know what is important.
My heart goes out to each of you during this season whether you are learning to simplify or struggling with the loneliness of the holiday. May God bless and encourage you during this season!
