Wednesday Walk

Recently, I sent a text to my brother with exciting news. I am finally able to add 1 pound weights to my exercise regimen without causing injury or issues. I realize that this sounds very silly to be excited about, but it has taken a long, long time to get this far. Now, we carefully move on to the two-pound weights.

Sometimes, our progress seems so slow, achingly slow. Yet, we press on. My doctors have told me that even five minutes a day will help. Some days, I can do much more than five minutes. Some days, I can only do five minutes. Little by little, inch by inch. Keep pressing on.

It hit me that our physical exercise and regimens to fight for health are much like our spiritual disciplines to have good spiritual health. We must do it daily, little by little, each day spending time with our Savior, seeking Him and purposely striving to be like Him. We are not going to become “spiritual giants” overnight. Slowly, over time, we will grow as we seek to be closer to Him, to be more like Him.

Press on, my friend, press on. One step at a time, press on in your spiritual walk with God. Press on in His strength.
