Today, I am thankful for church! I am thankful for livestreams. 🙂
Sunday, I went to church. That is such a simple statement that I would have completely taken for granted a few years ago. However, after six and a half years of not being able to attend, it is no longer a simple statement. It is momentous. Lack increases gratitude!
I was able to go to church given some changes in their schedule which means a less-crowded service option and some changes in my health. It was incredible. Since I have been “attending” this church via livestream for years, it felt like coming home. This church loves God, people, and His Word.
As an example of their love for people, I am awkward with my uneven gait, scooter, gloves on my hands, and wild hair that refuses to be tamed by products that I am able to use. People spoke to me, offered to help, smiled, and welcomed me. If you deal with chronic illness and disability, you know the immensity of that statement. As I was leaving, three teenagers even smiled, greeted me, and seemed happy to have me there. The pastor emailed me letting me know that they will do all possible to work with medical needs.
My soul lapped up the fellowship. I am very, very limited in how often I will be able to join the people at the church. (I believe I have now questioned my brother on the “safe for my immune system” scale of every activity of the church. He is ever so patient.) However, I am going to be so thankful for every time that I can attend. It is amazing how it makes you so thankful to attend church after not being able to for so long. My soul is still overflowing. I am counting down the days until Sunday.
What are you thankful for?
