Daily Dose of Encouragement: Identity, Part 17

We have been reminded that God is a God of love and also a God of wrath, that He is designed us, but that there is a disconnect when we do not follow His way and that darkness comes from following our own path instead of the design He had for us. Yet, He loves us so much that He wants a relationship with us. Jesus took our punishment for sin to restore that relationship.

What difference does His design make in our identity? How does following His design change your life? What happens when we follow our own way and wants instead?

Shirer shares verses in Week 1, Day 5 which show God’s design and authority in our lives. We are going to look at two of them. Meditate on these verses and the difference they make in your identity.

  1. Isaiah 64:8, “But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”
  2. Ephesians 2:10, “10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

What do these verses mean to you? How do they affect your identity? Why does God have authority over us?

Note: In the next few weeks, we will be loosely following the study Definedby Priscilla Shirer. Her book goes much more in-ddepth; I believe it will be encouraging to you. Each week in the study, there are video lessons to watch. I found them on Youtube at this link. The book and study are based on the movie Overcomer which is on Amazon Prime or available at the link.
