We are looking at Romans as we look at our identity. Romans 6-8 tells of our wonderful loving God.
To know this wonderful loving God, we must first look at who He is and who He created us to be. We have looked at how He is a God of love and a God of wrath, how He is our great designer.
The next thing Shirer shares in her study is that there is a disconnect. God created us for fellowship with Him. He created us unique and designed us. However, in this fallen world, we are sinful (doing things against God’s law and design). Romans 1:21 states, “21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.”
There is a definite difference in knowing who God is and personally knowing God and glorifying Him. (Do you notice that it also equates not being thankful with not glorifying God? A great resource for gratitude changing our lives is here.) Where are you in this? Do you know God personally or just know who He is? Are you accepting God’s design for your life or choosing your own path?
We will be looking at this more tomorrow and telling more of the great sacrifice God made to have a relationship with you. If you have any questions on this, please contact us here or in our Facebook group.
Note: In the next few weeks, we will be loosely following the study Defined, by Priscilla Shirer. Her book goes much more in-depth; I believe it will be encouraging to you. Each week in the study, there are video lessons to watch. I found them on Youtube at this link. The book and study are based on the movie Overcomer which is on Amazon Prime or available at the link.
