There is a special group of mothers we want to specially honor today, the mothers of special needs children. These mothers give and give and give. They sacrifice so much, including their hopes and dreams. They give and give and give, living a life that is far from normal and often lonely. These are special people. To all you mothers of special needs children, we see you and honor you today as you live each day by faith!
My own mother is one of these as I was disabled at a young age. She is an amazing example of living by faith. Allow me to take a few moments and share a glimpse of her faith. This week, I asked her what her thoughts were when she knew I was unexpectedly disabled at a very young age. She thought for a minute and then said that she just knew it would be okay because God would walk with us through it all.
Wow.
I witnessed her faith throughout my life. In honor of Mother’s Day, I want to share my mom’s favorite verse which really sums up the way she lives her life.
“20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
May I have the faithfulness of my dear mother!
